Our Mission:

Enhance

Reading School Parents’ Association is led by a committee of willing and enthusiastic parents whose main aims are to create a network of parental support and to raise money for the school. We meet regularly and organise several events to fund extra projects across the school that directly benefit our children and enhance their education and environment.

Our Activities:

To fulfil our mission of enhancing the students’ education and supporting their parents and carers, we carry out the following:

  • We ensure all new starters and their families are warmly welcomed into the Reading School Family. We aim to invite New Y7 starters to a picnic, a fair, or our Pre-Loved Uniform Shop Day in the school grounds, depending on the school's capacity to host such events. We attend to or coordinate our own Y7 welcome evenings, and create their own year Facebook page to help with their transition to school.

  • We provide and maintain a parental communication system - Classlist.

  • We organise social functions, which have previously included quiz nights, the Christmas Market, the Summer Fare, and also Student Discos with a Parent/Carer Meet & Greet.

  • We fundraise to help fill any requirements not met by the Government budget.

  • We enhance the school environment by providing various facilities, e.g., a Multi-Use Games Area, a covered learning area Canopy, installation of new benches, bathrooms, and cricket nets.

  • Additionally, we support various school events, e.g., House Music Competition, Sports Personality of the Year, Junior Prize Giving, and the Y13 Leavers Drinks Party.

  • We also provide a well-stocked Preloved Uniform Shop, and help to organise a Lost Property collection point and a returns service.

Our Impact:

Research shows that parents have a major impact on a child's achievements. Parental involvement means that children are more likely to get better exam results, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behaviour, and go on to further education

23 thousand pounds raised

Through various events and activities during the year to 31st March 2025, RSPA received over £23,090 in funds.

Departments helped

Over the last two years alone, the RSPA has helped 24 different academic departments and many of the wider clubs available to the boys. From books to boxing stands, from chess sets to camera equipment, the RSPA has been involved in many day-to-day and larger initiatives that you may see around the school. We are continually looking at ways to support every department within the school. One of our repeated successes has been the Teachers’ Wishlist, which in December 2025 alone coordinated gifts from parents and carers worth over £5,642 to the school, providing additional learning resources and supportive items, on top of the £23,090 funds raised.

Get Involved:

The RSPA is powered entirely by volunteer parents and carers — people just like you — who generously give their time, energy and talents to support the school community. We are a wonderfully diverse team, united by enthusiasm and a shared commitment to making a difference.

From organising large-scale events and supporting careers initiatives to running the uniform shop, our activities are varied, rewarding and impactful. There truly is something for everyone, whatever your skills, experience or availability.

If you can spare even a little time, we would be thrilled to welcome you. Together, we can achieve so much more for our children and the wider school community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our events only come to life because of the energy, generosity, and enthusiasm of our parent community. With your support, we can continue creating memorable experiences for our children and raising vital funds for the school.

If you’d like to play a part in making our next events a success, we would love to hear from you — come and be part of something special!

Corporate Matching

In a previous school year alone, we raised over £10,000 through Corporate Matching — a fantastic boost that made a real difference to the school.

Many companies are happy to match funds raised by their employees, effectively doubling the impact at no extra cost to you. If your employer offers a Corporate Matching scheme and you’d be willing to explore how it could support the RSPA, we would be delighted to hear from you. Your workplace could help us achieve even more for our students!
