Students Bathroom Refurbishment

“Toilets, toilets, toilets!” Who can forget the fabulous song accompanying our bathroom refurbishment video when the work was completed. The students had been requesting a long overview bathroom update, and we were delighted to raise and donate £24,700 to the school in 2022, once the overhaul to the Refectory bathroom was finished.

The balance of funds was provided by the school, as the project was expected to total close to £50,000. This was to convert the Refectory bathroom to 5 cubicles and involved major drainage and venting works.

The total cost of the bathroom refurbishment is not a small sum by any standards, but it can be difficult to carry out the works at Reading School versus a modern school. The cost of actually running the school is huge. In the three years to 2022 the utility bills have doubled despite attempts by the school to reduce usage e.g. introducing LED lighting & boiler replacements. However, the finished effect of the bathroom is very modern indeed and both the RSPA and, we hear, the students are delighted with the outcome.
